A Gala Evening.

This pic is a week old. Went to an engineering society 50th anniversary gala (I'm on the association's PR committee) a week ago Thursday. After a week of scorching temps ... it was 102 the day before ... the weather broke and the evening was perfect. I had two drink coupons (chose margaritas), walked all over the Denver Botanic Gardens with a coworker, mingled with sources and industry friends, and enjoyed a bit of the chocolate fountain ... then went home.

Seriously. The perfect Denver evening. In case you're wondering.

I hate summer weather.

I really do. And it no longer comforts me that it's a "dry heat" here in Colorado. I hate it all.

At the moment, the temp could be worse; it's 87, but forecast for 91 tomorrow. But the house isn't catching a breeze from any of the windows, so we've gone into darkened mode. Got the curtains drawn and the window unit in my bedroom cranked, plus fans whirring in Emma's room and the living room. Oh, and had to shut the bathroom door b/c the skylights really heats things.

I am such a whiny baby, I know.

Later, though, I'll probably take Emma for a little stroll around the neighborhood, with a stop at the Cone Zone for an ice cream treat. At the moment, though, she's busy playing Spyro 3: Year of the Dragonfly in her bedroom. She's in the skatepark right now, and there's much woohooing!
